tikz.dev / chemfig Manual

chemfig

Introduction

1 New in v1.8

The change log is no longer at the end of the chemfig.tex file but at the end of this manual, see section Change history. It is not translated into English.

1.1 Saving to a file

The Boolean key save, set to ⟨false⟩ by default, allows—when set to ⟨true⟩—the saving of the 1 TikZ generated by \chemfig{⟨code⟩}.

The save name key allows the user to choose the file name (the extension will always be tex). Its default value is

\jobname-fig*

where the character “*”, if used, is replaced by a number starting at 1 and incremented each time the \chemfig macro is called with save = ⟨true⟩.

1.2 Horizontal Reactions

Bugs have been fixed:

  • any arrow type previously defined by \definarrow (whether defined by chemfig by default or by the user) is allowed in the hreac environment;

  • the key arrow coeff supported in hreac environment;

  • the keys arrow head and arrow style are now supported in the hreac environment (thanks to Moshe Lando for pointing this out).

1.3 Reaction schemes

For the sake of consistency, starting with version 1.8 of chemfig, the syntax of the \schemestart macro has changed, and it no longer accepts two optional arguments, but only one. This single optional argument can contain ⟨keys⟩=⟨values⟩. The settings that were previously controlled by the two optional arguments can now be configured using the following new keys:

  • arrow angle, arrow coeff, arrow style for the three parameters contained in the former first optional argument;

  • init anchor for the parameter contained in the second optional argument.

Furthermore, the inconsistent behavior of ⟨style⟩ when an arrow of the type @⟨name⟩[⟨style⟩]-- is drawn in the \schemestart environment has now been fixed (thanks to Moshe Lando for reporting it).

1 The macros \chemabove, \chembelow, and \charge are not converted to TikZ commands and are left as is.
